100_0998.JPG100_1013.JPG100_0715.JPG100_0716.JPG100_0718.JPG100_0719.JPGSaltzberg is the 4th largest city in Austria.--The name means "Salt Fortress", is in a Alpine surroundings.--The river is the Salzack.--Munich is 150km, Ljubljana is 280km, and Vienna is 300km.from Salzberg.---Salzberg is a charming place.--Salzberg was the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the great composer.--The film "The Sound of Music"was filmed here.---The train company is OBB. --Places to see include, Salzberg Cathedral, i remember been given a small prayer card on entry, ------The garden of Mirabill Palace. ---Hohensalzberg the fortress on the hill, ---- Getreidegasse the oldest street. ---Mozarts birthplace house is in the main street, can be visited.------When i was there it was a Festival,so there were Beer Tents with entertainment. Views from the castle are spectacular. We loved Salzburg but the weather wasn't great.
